Dr Viezel was born in Jerusalem, Israel, arriving in Canada when he was two years old. After studying at St. George Williams University (later Concordia), he studied at the University of Guelph, graduating from veterinary school in 1976. After working 2 years in Hudson, Quebec, Dr Viezel moved to Hawkesbury, where he met and married Lise Lanthier in 1980. In 1982, Dr Viezel moved to Cornwall to become a partner at the St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital, where he developed special interest in ophtamology, laser surgery, endoscopy, internal medicine and surgery. Since 2008, Dr Viezel and Lise moved to Ottawa and continued to work as a relief veterinarian throughout Eastern Ontario.
Dr Viezel has interests as well in nature photography, fishing and spending time with his two children, Rebecca and Steven.
